As we said in the post Tips for Pulling Off Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses<<, usually we suggest you avoiding using contrasting colors because it’s too hard to balance such as green and red. But these two colors are in the same color saturation, so they can combine naturally.

  • Prepare Guest List

The number of guests you have at your wedding affects everything you do while planning, but creating the list can seem like an incredibly difficult task to start. We are here to help! Categorize them to pull your lifetime of friends and family into one guest list.

Family List them ALL, down the second cousins you see only at the family reunion.
Close Friends These are the people you see or speak to on a regular basis, or are significant in your life.
Professional Friends Coworkers, clients-turned-friends, mentors, or other people who are significant to your professional life.
Significant Relationships The people who remain significant in your life, and can include friends from childhood, college, sports organizations, or any other group in your life that was meaningful.

  • Quarantine Mood boards

Pinterest is brilliant and crazy all at the same time! It gives so much inspiration for all the things that are possible – from your Wedding decorations themes all the way to your wedding outfit. It has all your party ideas. Do not hesitate to create innumerable mood boards for all the various elements that you are going to need. The most common mistake that people make is having just one board. Start by breaking the boards down for example:

  • Invites
  • Save the date
  • Flowers
  • Food & Dessert
  • Photo booth
  • Decorations

Just Keep Pinning!!!

  • DIY it all

There is so much that can be done just sitting at home, start getting those creative juices flowing and see where it takes you! Considering you have a lot of time in hand, doing DIY will not just save money but loads of fun to sit together with family and make all these décor items. All you need is may be a few glazed papers and you can make paper fans, boats and wheels for those table center pieces adding a personal touch or just collect those old bottles and jars and paint them or stick some lace and tie a ribbon knot Or just clip the photographs on threads and brighten the set up with fairy lights and flowers.….there are numerous DIY décor ideas out there for you to execute while sitting at home which will add a personal touch and can save you some big bucks too.

  • Create a Checklist and timeline

When it comes to your wedding makeup, you want to make sure you look flawless and avoid any and all make up mistakes. We’d like to share some of the most common makeup mistakes that most  brides make. Give a quick read and make sure you’re not making any.

Always do your research before trying in a new look. Go through different pictures of women who have similar features or hair color so you can visualize how you would look like. Below are the most common mistakes that brides to be and newlywed brides make.

1. Selecting the wrong foundation shade

One of the biggest makeup mistakes that women often make is choosing a foundation that doesn’t go with their skin color. And this happens because most of them try the product on their hands while making the purchase, whereas it should be tested on the jawline.

2. Use of too many eye shadow colors

Who said you’ve got to deck up your eyelids with too many colors just because you are the newlywed bride? At max, you should use three subtle colors at a time-lighter shade on your brow bone, medium one on your lids and a darker one on the outer corner of your eye and make sure to blend them well.

3. Not preparing your lips before applying lipstick

The reason why you always end up eating your lipstick or why it doesn’t stay for too long is that you don’t prepare your lips before applying a lipstick. So, always make it a point that you prep your lips with a nourishing lip balm and let it absorb.

4. Puffing your face with too much powder

After you have applied your foundation, it is important to apply some loose powder to set your makeup right (especially if you have oily skin). But overdoing the powder is not good, as it will only make your face appear too cakey and white.

5. Applying foundation only on your face

Don’t apply foundation just to the face. Spread it all the way down your jawbone and cover the neck area as well. Otherwise, your neck and face are likely to give an uneven look. It looks awful when the color of your face is all even and doesn’t match the color of your neck.

Why is this pre-invitation so important?

It serves as a reminder for the guests to feed the date in their calendar but it is also the very first impression that you will leave on your guests.  There are a number of things you must keep in mind before you get your Save the Date designed, as it should be in line with the rest of the theme and the color scheme. Once you have finalized important details such as the venue, date and time of the ceremony, it’s time to send in the information to your loved once and keep them in loop.

If you want to be creative with your big announcement you can use one of these ideas to go beyond the norm and make your save the dates stand out.

  1. Photo Envelope Liner

Surprise your guests with a photo on the envelope liner instead of the card. It gives a fun and unexpected detail to your card to give a unique feel. Use a solid color liner around the envelope to make the picture stand out.

  1. Lazer cut Cards

If you feel sending photos in your save the date would be too cliche, yet you do not want your announcement to be too simple, send in a lazer cut card that can be used as a fridge magnet or even a  bookmark.

  1. Info-graphic timeline

It is a fun and modern way to incorporate your wedding story in the Save the Date Card. It also lets your guests experience the journey you both have taken together as a couple. This card can also be sent as soft copy attachment in the mail saving you the time and money that goes in getting the cards printed. The jpeg can be embedded to the email which can be linked to an online RSVP platform for their guests to confirm their presence at the wedding.

  1. Layered Vellum save the Date

Add elegance to the Save the Date card with just a photo or a simple card with necessary details by layering it with a velum paper.  In order to add more glamour to the card, the information on the vellum paper can be foil printed, the paper then can be layered on top with a paper fastener.

  1. Sending a goodie

Send in a goodie bag which not only reminds them of your special date when they receive it, but every time they use it. If you are an environment enthusiast, be the trend, send in a canvas bag and support the ban on plastic bags.

There are gazillions of articles with instructions on cutting your wedding budget. “Cut your guest list,” they say…uhhh….duhh… where the guest list is usually a 500 person minimum. Unfortunately, the majority of the advice out there does not apply to big-fat-Indian weddings.WDC to the rescue! Yours truly has rounded up 5 very applicable tips on saving on your very wallet heavy:
1. Food
Depending on your families, opt for an all vegetarian menu. Include enough paneer dishes, and most of your meat eating cousins won’t miss the non vegetarian food too much. If an all vegetarian menu isn’t an option, try concentrating most of the non veg options at the cocktail hour instead of in the main course.
2. Wedding Sites
Surprisingly, the nicest wedding sites (museums, public gardens, etc) can be the most affordable. Make sure to consider alternative locations before opting for your closest 5 star hotel.
3. Bouquets
Forgo the bridal bouquets. Not only are they costly, but they look out of place at Indian weddings. A classier and more cost effective option is for the bride to enter with a garland or decorated coconut; and for the bridesmaids to carry diyas.
4. Alcohol
Sigh, Indian weddings and their alcohol. Omitting alcohol at an Indian wedding is often out of the question. However, you do have two options on cutting the alcohol budget: 1) Do not serve alcohol at the Sangeet. It’s not necessary, and often not expected. You don’t want drunk guests dancing around with wooden dandia sticks. 2) Limit the choices or hours of availability, not the amount.  You can get away with eliminating hard alcohol and sticking to champagne, wine, beer and a signature drink. An alternative is to limit the hours on the bar.
5. Centerpiece
Stick to seasonal flowers, and alternate costlier high centerpieces with less expensive low centerpieces.
